CANDLE CARE

Correctly maintaining your soy wax candles will extend their life, and give you a better burning and scent experience for longer. Plus, it’s safer for you, and your home. Here’s a quick guide on getting the best from your luxury candle.

  • Storage

When not in use, it’s best to keep your candle in a cool and dry place. This will keep your fragrance fresh for longer, and stop it fading over time.

Make sure your candle is covered, to keep away moths and other pests that could cause damage. When your candle is burning, keep it on a flat, solid surface, so it doesn’t fall. If it topples over, you could be at risk of fire, or burning yourself with spilled wax.

  • Clean wax pool

It’s essential to keep your candle’s wax pool - the area around the wick - clean and clear of soot and other debris that can gather.

    Why it’s important:

    -      A more even burn

    -      Prevents tunnelling

    -      Longer life span

    -      Prevents soot build-up

    -      Keeps flame under control for safety.

  • Trimming the wick

We recommend keeping your wicks - cotton or bamboo - trimmed to a quarter inch, making sure they are trimmed before each burn.

    Why it’s important:

    -      Prevents soot build-up

    -      Stops the jar becoming discoloured

    -      Prevents unpleasant smells

    -      Cleaner burn

    -      Prevents tunnelling

    -      Keeps your wax healthy

  • Re-using the jar

When your candle is finished, make sure it’s thoroughly cleaned out. Use soapy water, or put in your dishwasher for the best results. To remove the old wick, use a tweezers, or other small instrument to lift it out.

  • Burning Time

The optimal burn time for our soy wax candles is 2 hours. We advise to burn for no longer than 4 hours.

Burning for too short a time can cause tunnelling, as the wax melts in the centre, and forms a hollow in the middle.

Burning for too long can damage the wax, and lead to safety concerns, such as excess heat that can lead to a fire if left unattended.
